Ok Morning OPPO's today is my second last day at work before I move to Denver and as such, I am doing as little as possible outside of Oppo today. So for my first post (of possibly many or even possibly of one) I ask you....
What car on the road do you irrationally love, lust, want or just have a profound amount of jealousy for the person who has it?
I thought about this long an hard (on my 30 minute drive to work) and this is what I came up with.
Side Note: I drive a brand new Focus ST, just for comparison when considering my decision.
My irrational jealousy is for people who drive 04/05 Forester XT's
I have no idea why, but I love these cars. I think part of me thinks that if I owned one I would eventually make it into one of these.
Which makes my thought pattern that much more irrational.
So what say you OppO????

I concur. I wish the Forester STI had been available in the US.
EDIT: That car for me would be the Viper. Especially the new one...

A person at my park and ride has a forester sport XT, everytime I walk past it, i think of the possibilities of turning it into the rally blue gold wheel car you posted. I really do love these things too.

Practically any time I see a coupe or sporty thing from a time since gone. Like an '85 Celica or something similar.

I have a coworker who DDs an Elise. In DC traffic. In DC traffic in the snow.
Half of me says "That's so dumb" and the other half says "Man, I wish I did that".
Coincidentally, in my work parking garage there's a Forester XT in world rally blue that's all STI'd out. I've seen it every day for three years, but I've never met the guy who drives it. It's always there before I show up and still there when I leave. It's in a different spot every day though so I know it's driven.

Any full size Merican car made from 74-79.
I love woefully underpowered, HUGE, floating road boats. I don't know why. Could you imagine rally cross in this thing?

It is... *Jeremy Clarkson's voice* the perfect car...
All joking aside, these things are great. And that was the last generation that had a proper manual transmission, and everything was plug-n-play with the WRX/STI. You have ground clearance, more room in the back, a manual trans, a powerful engine, all-weather capability. What more could you want?

Oh god yes! the AE86 for me is a consistant wet dream. When I was new car shoping I almost picked up a freshly imported RHD AE86 Levin Coupe. It was so much awesome! I showed my dad a picture of it and his response was. "The fuck you want a boxy old toyota for? That piece of shit looks like a milk carton"

As you're in the Denver area, a Subaru is a natural choice. And as an Opponaut, the turbocharged, all wheel drive wagon with a stick is also natural.
For me, it's a beat up pickemup truck, specifically a 78-79 F150.

There is a guy that is on my route to work that I see once or twice a month, full ST forester in MATTE BLACK!!!!! Gold BBS ugh its the sexiest machine I have ever seen. One day he and I were going the same direction and hit a red light... I dont normally "street race" but I had to take the opportunity. He walked away from my ST like I was driving a ford pinto.

I want your picture to work so bad but its not. I have always wanted a nice mini truck (not saying this is mini) but something like a Datsun or old Toyota pickup. I go down to Costa Rica quite often and there is a guy that drives this old ass toyota. The guy is about a million years old and the truck is about 30, but it is in PERFECT condition. even the "chrome" bits that normally rust off immediately on that truck are still in flawless condition...especially considering its in a beachside town.

Ha, no but clearly I need to get into his business if he has a mustang a couple road boats.

Are you sure the Forester STI was never available here? I saw one in New Hampshire. It looked 100% legitimate/factory although I suppose it could have been a replica. It was awesome.

I'm pretty sure they were only available in Japan as the STI. The XT was available in the US with the same powertrain, but didn't have the same exact body or the suspension as the STI. I could be wrong though.

Wiki says it was only for Japan. I must have seen a conversion. It was truly a beautiful thing. It was even the rally blue. I'm a little sad now, that certainly ruined my day. I'll have to inform my friend (also drives a Subaru) who was also losing his mind over this car in the parking lot that we were tricked.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a dreamcrusher. I wonder if it could have been an imported STI?

Well that restores a little hope. It was at an amazing mountain bike park. I guess he could have made the trip south. I wish I took a couple pictures.

Highland Mountain which is little south of Laconia / Lake Winnipesaukee. Its a former ski mountain turned into mountain insanity. I've both brought my own bike and rented one of the mountain's bikes. I think it was valued somewhere around $5,000. The difference between an that bike and a regular mountain bike is like the difference between an SUV and and a Dakar prepped race truck. You can do things you never thought you could personally do, and you could do it with ease.

nice, ive been riding for a while and have been dying to get up there. mountain bike technology is insane.. 10 inch travel bikes, frames handle bars and cranks all made of carbon.... my trail bike has 140mm of travel front and rear and can still pedal. its just so much money tho

Do it! They have a deal for $100 for armor bike and chairlift pass. Dont go when its raining. It really takes away from it. My first ride up there was a kid down with a broken collar bone because he slid out in a berm. Also dont ride past your ability as I watched a kid faceplant off an 8' drop. He was moving but had to be placed in an ambulance. Not to scare you away tho cuz the place is f'in awesome.
